I have a friend who is on an 18-month mission for our church in Hawaii and in one of her recent letters she mentioned that the Hawaiian word for octopus is he'e, which means slippery. Isn't that awesome?
Did the shading ruin it? Is it better this way? Who knows?
Also, my awesome little brother wanted to do some Inktobering with me so here is his picture too! (It's a jack-o-lantern) :)
"I want to do something splendid before I go into my castle, something heroic or wonderful that won't be forgotten after I'm dead. I don't know what, but I'm on the watch for it, and mean to astonish you all some day." -Louisa May Alcott
I do like the unshaded version because the octopus stands out so well! I also like the black background - the small differences in the shading of the background remind me of what it is like to look up at the surface of water from underneath! Kudos to you and your wonderful guest artist!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! :)
DeleteI like the "he'e" better without the shading but it's still neat both ways. Looks like your brother inherited some of your talent as well! I had no problem figuring out what his drawing was. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll have to tell him that you liked his drawing :) he was so excited to have me put it up! :)
DeleteI love seeing all your drawings for inktober! They look so great. Hehe, your guest artist has quite a superb talent for drawing, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteInktober is the BEST :D I'm happy to have such a great guest artist to work with. . . I'm pretty lucky to know him ;)
